Now that my technical probs have been solved (sorry for not posting yet this week) I am all back to normal! I hope you have fun doing whatever you’re doing tonight. Adrian and I will be at home passing out candy and admiring our four super cool pumpkins carved with ASU and a Sun Devil pitchfork. We’re hoping that brings us good luck for the huge game this Saturday! I am also hoping that Adrian does not break out his creepy mullet wig and scare all the little kids away. It’s sooo gross…yuck. In other news, I absolutely miss my new nephew! I am just searching for ways Adrian and I can get away for a weekend to go see him, but of course it is so busy this time of year with the holidays fast approaching. Hence the picture I wanted to share with you all. My sister-in-law says he is growing fast and being a good baby. I can’t wait to see him again! Also, I wanted you to all know about the newest weekly contest from Coutorture. This week, you can win four styling tools from Bed Head’s new product line. (And if you win, I get an extra set too. So thanks!) Enter on the sidebar to the right by submitting your email address. Until tomorrow!
This is from a few years back but is still too funny. Mmm, I feel like Mexican food now! (Seriously, I am making carne asada tonight…just not wrapped in a pizza or blueberry pancake.)
Aside from all things fashion and beauty related, one of my true passions is the field of developmental disabilities. Last year, I left my job as a developmental disabilities specialist to help my husband’s new business but that in no way lessened the burden I feel for the children and families who are affected by these conditions. On November 4th, I will be particpating in the “Autism Speaks, Walk Now For Autism” event in Tempe, AZ. Currently, the causes of autism are unknown and there are no specific medical treatments or cure. Physicians have no blood test or scan that can definitively diagnose the disorder so diagnosis of autism is based solely upon observations of behavior. Despite increasing national interest and high prevalence, autism research is one of the lowest funded areas of medical research by both public and private sources. If you feel called to, please visit my personal page and donate to my walk. Every little bit counts and can help make a greater impact on finding a cure!
Congrats to local Valley resident Shaun Breese for her awesome feature (‘My Black Book’) in this month’s issue of Lucky mag! She highlighted some amazing places in my city like The Counter, A.K.A. Green and Frances Vintage. Make sure you check them out if you ever come for a visit. (I promise the Valley is so much more than golf courses and Scottsdale clubs!) But even better is getting the word out about her amazing organic bakery Urban Cookies on 7th Street and Highland! Trust me, these are the best cookies ever, just look at the pictures and ingredient lists on the website. Plus, they are a wonderful company that uses recyclable packaging, waste reducing practices and stresses community involvement. Check out their customizable gift packaging (chocolate art, so cool!) and order a few treats to give as a present or just for yourself!
Sorry for being a bit absent lately. I have been in a scramble lately to change travel plans. See, I was supposed to leave Thursday for Texas to visit my best friend Emily but yesterday morning we got the joyous news that our first ever nephew was born (3 weeks early but still perfect!) I’m now an aunt!! So we have been changing our schedules so we can leave for Vegas on Thursday to see our new little relative. So I’ll be taking a little break but before I leave I’ll try to post an update on my shine killer search at Sephora. I’ve been trying a couple new things that I want to let you all know about. More info soon!
Hooray for more fashion shows on television! My favorite snobby yet endearing fashion guru, Tim Gunn, has his own show on Bravo- Tim Gunn’s Guide To Style on Thursday nights. The premiere last night was great and it only lasts for eight weeks so you should totally put on your Tivo list! Tim Gunn helps style victims find their signature look (and gives them a closet full of designer frocks) with a bit of firm but lovable guidance like only he can deliver. He even cried at the end of the show yesterday, awwww! On the show’s website Gunn says, “I want every woman to achieve her style zenith.” I mean, anyone who can perfectly interject a word like zenith into a normal sentence is pure genius in my book. I’m going to have to remember that next time I play Scrabble!
Winona over at Daddy Likey is running a contest and you have to check it out! She wants us to post our horrible fashion memories from middle school in the comment section to win a fabulous gift pack full of middle school memories. Keep checking this week to read more hilarious flashbacks from commenters and see who Winona picks as the best nominees for the contest. I submitted my comment already and if I can find a picture of me in middle school, I’ll put it up here for you all to laugh at with me! (For now, I thought I’d post a picture of my junior high inspiration- 90210. Best. Show. Ever. From sixth grade until college it was like a dear friend to me, man I miss it!)
After some very frustrating days of working with my server’s tech people, it looks like all the problems are repaired. I got the posts that were deleted back up but unfortunately the error deleted any comments that were on those posts, darn! Anyway, I am starting to feel much better after my nasty stomach bug and I will have new posts up for you soon. Thanks again for being patient with this!
So sorry readers. My server is currently a big ‘ol mess. I am working on getting the issues resolved and I should be back to normal shortly. Thanks for your patience!
By now, most of you have probably seen the musical genius of Tay Zonday’s “Chocolate Rain” either on You Tube or his Jimmy Kimmel appearance (if you haven’t yet watched the original, check out the link. Love the breathing technique!) I couldn’t resist posting this John Mayer version to the tune of Nelly Furtado’s ”Say It Right.” They showed a bit of it on Best Week Ever but below is the clip in its entirety. So hilarious! My husband and I now make up our own words to the original and could go on forever, it’s pretty addicting. Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
