Maybe I am simply unaware of fashion devices meant for keeping warm because I’ve lived in a desert since age 12 but have any of you ever seen arm warmers before? Of course we all know about leg warmers from Flashdance, but I am sure that I have not seen anyone in my life wearing separate warmers on their arms (and I travel to freezing places often). Am I clueless? Is this really popular in colder climates? Why wouldn’t you just wear long sleeves? Or gloves? Do your fingers not get cold too? Or do you wear gloves along with arm warmers? Can I ask anymore questions? Seriously though, I just don’t get it. Someone enlighten me.

How cool is this L.A.M.B. cardigan? It not only exudes the label’s signature retro, fun style but it has a removable hem so you can wear it at the hips or at the waist. Genius!

Tomorrow is the first day of fall and I am so happy about it! It may still be in the 90s in my neck of the desert but shortly it will be my favorite time of year and I can’t wait. Time to autumn-ize my house and celebrate! Here’s my plan: hit Pottery Barn and pick up a few fall home accessories (like these gourd candles and this pomegranate wreath for my front door) to mix in with the seasonal decor I already have, then head over to Illuminations and grab my favorite fall scented candles (YUM!), then purchase my first sweater of the season (like this fab Free People cardigan at Nordstrom) and finally bake up a cupcake storm with this delicious recipe. Best weekend ever!

So the Emmy’s are over. My thoughts on this year’s show: Ryan Seacrest did a pretty good job, the sensor cutting to a silent backstage shot was seriously annoying, the round stage looked cool but was not so cool for the people sitting behind it the whole night, there are WAY too many mini-series awards given out, and why was Kanye West there again?? My fave parts of the show were America Ferrera winning (Yay, Ugly Betty!), Terry O’Quinn’s acceptance speech (Yay, Lost!), Elaine Stritch and her adorable banter with the audience (“I’m not faking this, I really don’t know what the hell I’m doing,” she said and then squinted intensely to try to read the telepromter. She practically stole the show!), and especially when Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert presented an award, complete with a leaf blower and giving the award away to Steve Carell after the winner was a no show! They should host it together next year, that would be hilarious! My best dressed picks are: Eva Longoria in Kaufman Franco, America Ferrera in Monique Lhuillier, and Katherine Heigl in Zac Posen. Gorgeous! (images via People)

That I could trade my Old Navy trench for this one by Jenni Kayne. So perfect.

Hooray for more fashion shows on television! My favorite snobby yet endearing fashion guru, Tim Gunn, has his own show on Bravo- Tim Gunn’s Guide To Style on Thursday nights. The premiere last night was great and it only lasts for eight weeks so you should totally put on your Tivo list! Tim Gunn helps style victims find their signature look (and gives them a closet full of designer frocks) with a bit of firm but lovable guidance like only he can deliver. He even cried at the end of the show yesterday, awwww! On the show’s website Gunn says, “I want every woman to achieve her style zenith.” I mean, anyone who can perfectly interject a word like zenith into a normal sentence is pure genius in my book. I’m going to have to remember that next time I play Scrabble!

Winona over at Daddy Likey is running a contest and you have to check it out! She wants us to post our horrible fashion memories from middle school in the comment section to win a fabulous gift pack full of middle school memories. Keep checking this week to read more hilarious flashbacks from commenters and see who Winona picks as the best nominees for the contest. I submitted my comment already and if I can find a picture of me in middle school, I’ll put it up here for you all to laugh at with me! (For now, I thought I’d post a picture of my junior high inspiration- 90210. Best. Show. Ever. From sixth grade until college it was like a dear friend to me, man I miss it!)

Ugh, I got sick yesterday. Some sort of stomach bug or food poisoning (can you get food poisoning from mojitos?) I don’t know, but it is HORRID. Since I can only think of grossness and vomit and anger that I can’t eat anything even though my stomach is growling at me like a tiger, I found this dress. If you’re ever in the mood to blow about $900 and can’t figure out what to buy, I suggest this creative, old western meets Partridge Family meets gee-that-looks-like-my-great-grandma’s-apron-fabric jersey number from Matthew Williamson. Sorry if I am being extra grouchy today, I blame it on the pain! Hope to feel better (and more cheery!) tomorrow.

Can I just say how absolutely happy I am that football season is just around the corner? Just hearing those familiar sounds while watching last Sunday’s pre-season game made me smile from ear to ear. I may be a total girly girl, hate getting dirty, scream when I see a spider and try to rationalize eating Ramen for a month if I can just get that new handbag but I am still a football fanatic. No, I do not just watch football to stare at the player’s butts, (although some are very nice) I actually care about the game! Thankfully in the last few years, the fan gear options for us females has drastically improved. I was browsing around in the NFL shop today and found some sporty yet feminine things to represent my favorite pro teams on gamedays (I am also a huge college football fan, I adore my ASU Sun Devils!) I love this cute v-neck tee or this jersey inspired crew to cheer on my beloved Minnesota Vikings. And for my current home team, Arizona Cardinals, they carry a Matt Leinart replica jersey cut for a women’s shape as well as a cute layered long sleeve tee. Any of these tops would look great paired with jeans and a hoodie for later in the season. I can’t wait for it to officially start! Check out the NFL Shop to display affection for your favorite team!
