Mondays are my favorite day to shop, the weekend rush is over and I could use something fun to start the week ahead. If you’re in my neck of the world in Arizona, I urge (even demand!) that you come to the fabulous boutique, Electric Ladyland! The owners (who are mother and son), Penny Long and Ashley Mutrus, opened the original location in North Scottsdale back in 2002. They have been so successful that they have already opened 2 more locations this year and one right by me in Chandler!! Electric Ladyland is a gorgeous shop (the ceiling is covered in chandeliers), featuring tons of accessories from designers like Kenneth Jay Lane and Tarina Tarantino and a HUGE selection of premium denim lines such as True Religion and Frankie B. They are also stocked with stylish tops, handbags, shoes and home accessories. If you can’t make it here to enjoy our sunny winters, beautiful mountains, southwest culture and of course Electric Ladyland, then head on over to their website and have fun browsing!

It has arrived…Yesterday, I was undressing and pulled my top over my head only to hear the distinct crackle of static. Yep, thanks to the dryer, colder air, my hair has transformed into an electric charged shocking machine. It happens to me every fall but for some reason I forget about it once spring arrives. I’ve only found a couple things that work to rid my tresses of this annoying and sometimes painful menace- dryer sheets and shine serum. Seriously, if your hair is having static cling problems and you are in need of a quick fix, all it takes is smoothing a sheet of Bounce over your head. I’ve had to use this remedy many times and although it looks funny and my hubby then asks, ”why does your hair smell like clean laundry?” it does the job. A better (and less weird) option is to use a shine serum after styling your hair in the morning. My absolute favorite is Kerastase Serum Oleo Relax. It might be meant for unruly, coarse hair (which my hair is not) but a couple drops of that stuff keeps my hair shiny, frizz free and bouncy the whole day. It is pricey at around $30 but since you use a very miniscule amount, it lasts forever. Keratase products are available at many fine salons, if you’re in the Phoenix area go to my favorite salon- Dolce Spa in Chandler, or buy them online at Fred Segal Beauty.

While browsing around online for a new cashmere sweater at Banana Republic yesterday, I noticed a new shop from Gap Inc. called Piperlime. And guess what? It’s a shoe shop! Piperlime stocks hundreds of shoe brands from Kenneth Cole to Betsey Johnson for women, men and kids. And to top it off, their first guest editor is Rachel Zoe, the It-stylist of Hollywood. She will contribute stories on shoe trends and news, currently her tips for fall boots are to try the equestrian look, go for different calf heights, look for round toes or choose a platform heel. Piperlime offers free shipping and returns and 10% off your first purchase if you use a credit card from any Gap Inc store. I’m not sure yet if Piperlime will remain a web based only shop like Zappos or if they will have actual stores. One more great thing about this site is that they are partnering with the non-profit Soles4Souls, whose mission is to impact the lives of those in need with the gift of shoes. I’m definitely going to give Piperlime a try for my next shoe purchase, I need a new pair of everyday black pumps, I might go for the Franco Sarto Impala. I love pointy toes and bows and I don’t want to spend a ton of money so I think they are perfect!

Well now that Halloween is over, full on Holiday madness is about to erupt (at least at my house it is!) I’m sure you are all in eager anticipation of my Holiday Wish List but it’s a little early for that… However, it’s not too early to start thinking about it! I am a serious (and a little neurotic) Christmas present shopper. I intensely research gift choices, create my budget and organize all the info onto an Excel spreadsheet broken down by person. Okay, now that I read what I just wrote, I do sound slightly crazy. Anyway, one of my favorite things to give and receive are gift sets, they are one of those things that you rarely buy for yourself but are always fun. I noticed Sephora has a new feature, “The Greatest Gift Show on Earth.” It is a creative, circus inspired guide to a variety of beauty treats for you or your loved ones. My picks so far are Stila Perfectly Kitten, Benefit Best of Benefit, and Smashbox Swingin’ Scene Ultimate Beauty Collection. One of the best parts is that they are all under $100 and with Sephora’s awesome online shopping, they come with free gift packaging and shipping on orders over $75. Let the countdown begin, 54 days left!
